"Oh, right! Just go to bed and forget about it. Like it never happened."

"Would you prefer we go around in circles with no resolution and make each other miserable in the process?" Qui-Gon asked quietly, still moving in any direction that took him away from his apprentice.

Obi-Wan stalked him around the room. "It would be better than my misery and your lying."

"Lying? When have I lied to you?"

"Not to me, to yourself."

At that, Qui-Gon tucked his arms inside his robes. "You overstep your bounds, Padawan."

No. Not that. He would not get away with pulling rank, not in this conversation. "No. No Master, no Padawan. This is between Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Our teaching relationship has *nothing* to do with it."

"It has everything to do with it. You're suffering from a case of hero worship, and I--"

"Ha! Trust me, Qui-Gon, right now, there isn't much about you to worship." Without another word, Obi-Wan stalked out of their rooms, leaving Qui-Gon to stare at the front door and wonder what went wrong.
