Before he could second guess himself, Qui-Gon crossed the small room and kneeled next to Obi-Wan. He reached out with an unsteady hand to brush Obi-Wan's spiky hair.
"Obi-Wan," Qui-Gon whispered softly, his fingertips tracing down the side of Obi-Wan's face.
He stirred slightly. Although not awake, he leaned into the feather-light touch. "Mmmph," he muttered in his sleep.
Qui-Gon couldn't help the small smile that turned his lips. His Padawan had never been a morning person. "Obi-Wan," he whispered again, touching his cheek more firmly.
Hazy green eyes opened slowly to look up at Qui-Gon. "Master?" he asked, voice rough with sleep.
Nodding, Qui-Gon continued stroking Obi-Wan's cheek. "I came to find you."
Obi-Wan blinked, suddenly awake. "I didn't call . . . I'm sorry."
The Jedi Master shook his head, "Shh, do not worry. Your friend called in your place. You would do well to thank her."
Obi-Wan smiled, turning his face into Qui-Gon's continued caresses. "I will do that," he replied.
When Qui-Gon brought his other hand up to trace Obi-Wan's braid, he stiffened. "Is this a dream?" he asked in a stilted whisper.
"No," Qui-Gon replied in a low, harsh voice. "Unless we are both dreaming it."
Tentatively, Obi-Wan touched Qui-Gon's loose hair with shaking fingertips. "I never expected . . . Master Yoda said . . ."
He nodded. "Master Yoda is a very wise Jedi, my Obi-Wan," he replied, his voice staying at a whisper. "Yet not even he can see all."
His touch moving from Qui-Gon's hair, to the Jedi's cheekbone, Obi-Wan smiled. "I am glad."
Qui-Gon smiled, a relieved laugh breaking in his throat. Before he could second guess the impulse, Obi-Wan moved forward quickly, pressing his lips to Qui-Gon's.
His eyes widened in surprise before Qui-Gon leaned into the kiss. He opening his lips at the insistence of Obi-Wan's questioning tongue. Allowing himself to fall into the moment, Qui-Gon closed his eyes and threaded his hands through Obi-Wan's close-cropped hair.
Hearing a noise from behind Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan tore himself from the kiss and looked up. When he saw Bant trying to sneak away, he smiled.
She smiled in return and nodded. "Go get 'em, Kenobi," she said before disappearing through the doorway. Behind her, she heard Obi-Wan's laughter echo in the room.
