Obi-Wan shook his head, leaning away from the Senator even as the older man frowned. "Wait, wait, something is wrong here."
"Nothing is wrong, I assure you," Palpatine said. His voice was still silken smooth, but there was a hint of testiness underneath it.
Shaking his head again, Obi-Wan said, "Yes, there is. You told me earlier that you already have an apprentice, so if that's true how can you train me?"
Was that relief in the Senator's eyes? Surely not...
"Ah, well. That's easily dealt with." Palpatine stood and walked across the room that Obi-Wan had only just noticed they were sitting in. An office of some sort and the Senator was standing next to a door. "You see, I won't be training you myself, my friend, but someone else will. Someone who can train you just as well as I can."
Obi-Wan frowned. This wasn't part of the bargain; it was Palpatine he'd come here with.
